Together, as a team, we developed a device to help the visually impaired. This device is meant to be more affordable than many of the other devices on the market now, more comfortable, and with more features as well. We also wanted to design apps that would allow the user to zoom in, and use text to speech. We started out our journey with a VR headset casing. This unfortunately did not allow for the use of an app on the phone, because you can't touch the screen while it is inside the headset. This prompted us to find a different one. The next one that we would work with would be the Oande Movie Headset. This particular one used mirrors to reflect the phone's image onto a bottom mirror that you could view. With this, the apps worked perfectly, but we still wanted a better headset. We designed our own using parts from different headset mounts. Obviously, our work still isn't done. 3D printing could be the future for our designs and prototypes. With your help, we can improve this device beyond what it is now.
